Considered the gold standard of AIDS fundraisers, the 24th Annual White Party in Miami recently took place, attended by thousands of locals as well as out-of-towners from all over the world, including many from Chicago. The 2008 White Party Week consisted of a full week of dance events held throughout the Miami - Ft. Lauderdale area that featured some of the biggest DJing names in the gay nightclub and circuit party worlds, including Tony Moran, Victor Calderone, Hector Fonseca, David Knapp, Abel, Manny Lehman, Joe Gauthreaux, Wendy Hunt, Chris Cox, Phil B, Randy Bettis and Alyson Calagna.

The crown jewel of White Party Week is the White Party at Vizcaya, the actual successor of the original 1985 fundraising event. The party is held each year at Villa Vizcaya, a 16th century Italian Renaissance-styled villa with formal gardens and a grand Entrance Plaza surrounded by large sculptured pillars, cascading fountains and 17th century Italian sculptured figures. It is a majestic and dramatic setting, especially when guests arrive by yacht, for a truly spectacular and incomparable fundraising event that benefits Care Resource, the Miami-based non-profit, multi-cultural, community-based AIDS service organization.

Held this year on November 29, White Party was, as always, a well-attended event highlighted by party-goers decked out in their finest, and in some cases most ostentatious, white-colored fashions. The party featured a live performance by Jennifer Holliday, the "Original Dreamgirl" who thrilled the audience with her legendary vocal talents, and the DJing artistry of South Florida's own DJ Bill Hallquist. Bucking certain micro and macro trends, the 24th Annual White Party and White Party Week were considered a tremendous success by many and bodes well for next year's edition.
