Most folks who bring in the New Year at a nightclub usually do so with only their closest 400 friends who surround them on the dance floor that night. However, things will be quite different for thousands of shirtless dancing party boys in many different cities across the country. They all will be able to share their joy about the start of 2008 as part of the largest global gay New Year's Eve event called "One World. One Night. One Beat." (Which I will refer to as 1W1N1B throughout the rest of this article)

1W1N1B is the very ambitious undertaking of Los Angeles-based Masterbeat Entertainment, the company more commonly known for producing high-energy continuous mix dance music CDs. DJ/producer Brett Henrichsen, who is also President of Masterbeat, is the brains behind this unique event that includes simultaneous satellite-linked parties in various US cities, including Chicago. Video screens showing live feeds from all of the 1W1N1B parties across the country will enable attendees to experience the joy of the countdown and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" up to four times (once for each time zone). It's basically like when you were a kid at home watching TV and you rang in the New Year multiple times with Dick Clark (or Ryan Seacrest for you younger readers who don't really know who Dick Clark is. Ugh!)

In previous years Masterbeat has been one of the lead promoters for the multi-party New Year's event in Los Angeles. As well, in July 2006 during the Chicago Gay Games it partnered with Atlantis Events and local Chicago promoter Scott Silverman to put on the hugely successful Opening and Closing Ceremony dance parties at the Aragon Ballroom. Given this previous experience with large scale dance events, the buzz is growing and confidences are high that this massive 1W1N1B undertaking will be a success.

The Chicago portion of 1W1N1B will be held at Hydrate with DJ Jeanette supplying the rhythm and beats. However, Windy City influence does not stop there: Chicago legend DJ Ralphi Rosario co-headlines the Los Angeles finale 1W1N1B party with Henrichsen at the spectacular Mayan Theater.

If you're not in Chicago or Los Angeles for NYE, you may be able to catch a 1W1N1B party in one of the following cities: Miami (Soho Studios, DJ Abel); Atlanta (Woodruff Arts Center, DJs Roland Belmares & Martin Fry); Denver (Tracks, DJ Jordan P); Houston (South Beach, DJ Monty Q); Las Vegas (Piranha Nightclub, DJ Chris Adams); New Orleans (Oz Nightclub, DJ David Knapp); New York (Nokia Theatre, DJ Manny Lehman); Pensacola (Emerald City, DJ Dewight Barkley); Phoenix (Area, DJ Joe King); San Diego (Club Montage, DJ Bryan Pfeifer);
Washington DC. (Town, DJs Ed Bailey & Wess).
