The CHAPPELL Report
By Terrence Chappell

On Friday, November 7th, Halo [For Men] spa owner Robert Patrizi held an intimate, invite-only tasting event for The Balvenie Scotch Whisky at his hip and cool Gold Coast location @ 21 East Elm Street. Guests enjoyed noshes provided by Martini Park and brushed up on their Scotch whisky knowledge thanks to an on-site The Balvenie representative. To add some friendly personality, Patrizi enlisted a DJ to spin Top 40 records that sent the crowd into an overdrive of mingling, drinking and just having a good time. Guests also had souvenir photos taken by a professional photographer in one of Halo's signature bright red, vintage barber chairs.

The exclusive party was thrown to not only celebrate the success of Halo but also as a thank you to all of the spa's clients, supporters, and close friends of Patrizi. The well-groomed and manicured crowd included the popular custom suit designer
Nicolas Joseph; Andrew Hoelscher, chef of River North's must-go destination English; and a number of other local tastemakers.

"This was a great event. You have good Scotch in a men's spa. You can't go wrong," says Hoelscher.

Patrizi has additional Halo locations in the socially booming neighborhoods of Lakeview (3324 N. Clark St.) and Bucktown (1655 N. Damen), with future openings planned the Loop and in the Ogilvie Transportation Center. The Gold Coast loft location has a welcoming, zen-like ambience that overlooks Elm Street. Spa enthusiasts and newcomers can expect a friendly staff and apt attention to the needs of the client. Halo boasts an impressive clientele that includes Bears players, local business moguls and celebrity referrals from hotel concierges. Patrizi jokingly refers to this whole movement of properly groomed men not as metro-sexual but macho-sexual. Overall, the party was an awesome way to celebrate and raise a glass to success, looking good, and feeling good. Guests later joined Patrizi in celebration for an after-party at Martini Park.
