Fire Fly 3335 N Halsted

It is a great neighborhood for a woman to open a restaurant.

What is Fire Fly?
The name was picked by an old friend and we serve French American bistro with moderate priced French inspired comfort food and quality cocktails!

Is this youíre first shot as a restaurateur?
Yes, this is my first restaurant. I fell into a great opportunity in a great neighborhood. I had worked in many restaurants, from 20 to 200 tables and wanted to do it while I was still young.

What makes Fire Fly Stand out?
I think it is our veteran servers, friendly service and the success from regulars and repeat business. Not to mention, we have an excellent chef.

What can you say about owning a restaurant in Boystown?
It is a great neighbor hood for a woman to open a restaurant. People are willing to help and I get so much respect and everyone. As time goes by I think most people realize it is not just a man's world anymore. I think a woman knows what people want, all the men say that they can tell that there is a woman in the neighborhood. I think it because I always have fresh flowers and great music; itís more loungey and feminine. Fire Fly is a very low stress environment. The atmosphere is dark, romantic and secluded area with a great patio and the inside is very cozy during the winter.
Fire Fly's hours are Monday-Saturday 5:30 - 1:30am Closed Tuesday Sunday 5:30-Midnight 773-525-2505

Tweet 5024 N. Sheridan Rd.

I have always been interested in feeding people.

Is this your first restaurant?
Yes, I have worked in places that served food but this is my first ownership.

It is so different from Big Chicks, why?
It is, but it isnít. The design it is done by the same artist that did Big Chicks. It has the same feel and looks and shares the same sensibility. The attention to detail that is the difference. Tweet is non-smoking and the focus is palatable produce and ingredients, I eat mostly organic foods so there is a certain attention to inner spirituality at Big Chicks and the same identity is at Tweet. The same attention is paid to local surroundings. In spirit they are very kindred.

What is your next endeavor?
SLEEP, I would like to get at least 6 hours of sleep a night that would be nice. There is no real next endeavor, I donít want a next endeavor, I want to do these things and do them well, I want to do them well as I can. I want every gay and lesbian man and woman come here to eat. I have always been interested in feeding people. Now I can do it the way I eat.
We buy from local farms Organic coffee, free range eggs and free trade organic fruits and vegetables from farms in Illinois Amish pork sausage and chickens. Itís very challenging to keep away from bad stuff in food in a big city.
We are thrilled to sell liquor with the food we prepare. We buy our wines from small vineyards in France and in California and Boutique Vineyards. These wines are usually unavailable for retail purchase and reasonably priced. Like I said, it is my wish that every gay man and woman, or just everyman and woman would come and try the food here at Tweet.
