Mario Cantone was born December 9, 1959 in Boston and is an out stand-up comedian and actor with numerous appearances on Comedy Central including Chappelle's Show. He also played Anthony Marentino on Sex and the City. His unique style is fast-paced and energetic, with much of the humor coming from his impersonations of various characters ranging from his family members, to celebrities, to stereotypes.

He hosted a children's show called Steampipe Alley from 1988 to 1993. Much of his comedy derives from the fact that he is gay and campy. He also appeared at a roast for comedian Denis Leary. He is a favorite guest on the famous Opie and Anthony radio show, where his is forever remembered for a tune called "Getcha Balls Out".

Mario, you do many impressions of your family, are they exaggerated?
Not really, they might be heightened a bit bur they really talk like that! My cousin Goo Goo always ran out of breath. She had so much anger and fury and the last three words of her sentences would be breath and coughing.

Were you always funny?
I was, I started with shows in the garage and then did movies in the back yard. I moved into 8 mm movies and I filmed the Poseidon Adventure, Chitty Chitty Bang and Jungle Book in the back Yard using my sister, cousins and anyone that would be in them. I was a control freak!

When did you go into comedy?
I guess it was in Junior high, I would see Lily Tomlin, Robert Klein, I would do them in talent shows, then I would write my own stuff. I would have people take me to concerts like Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin.

What is your greatest achievement?
Probably my one man show, Laugh Whore, on Showtime and my 16 year relationship

Has being an openly gay comic helped your career?
NO!

What are you planning for the future?
I am doing 2 movies and a couple of pilots in development, the NY comedy fest Nov 11th, HBO Comedy fest in Vegas Nov 16th and Bolgata in Atlantic City Nov18th
