"We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch - we are going back from whence we came."
John F. KennedyThe Jelly-fish 45 is a bit like a floating home with an underwater viewing area. It is made of high density fiberglass with solid teak flooring. It has an underwater lower deck for checking out the view and it's powered by photovoltaic panels. The Jelly-fish 45 has five levels connected by a spiral staircase. There are three levels above sea level, the underwater viewing area and another lower level that has the guest room, bathroom and technical space. If you've got the space, at $2.5 million it's cheaper than some yachts or oceanfront property

An article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer speaks of the next really big thing, the gigayacht. It's a new way to define the elite class of 400+ footer. At this year's cruise industry convention in Miami, Barry Gilmour, chairman of Oceanic Investment Corp. announced that there is a plan for a 630-foot yacht. Gilmour insists that someone will order it. The U.S. is currently second to Italy in the yacht building race with the Netherlands running a close third. For really big yachts though, the leader Lurssen, of Bremen Germany is famous for building mega- yachts. The average length of its creations are 277 feet. The article also highlights some of the toys on the larger yachts such as a sand beach on the "Lady Moura," and the missile detection system and paparazzi-deterring lights on the "Pelorus." Now that the "Rising Sun" is no longer number one in the world, will Larry Ellison be the one to subsidize Gilmour's 630-foot gig yacht?

This is an idea in search of a deep-pocketed consumer. This design for a 213-foot personal luxury submarine. It would be the largest private undersea vehicle ever built. The 65m Submarine has large acrylic view ports and large open space. The 65m Submarine will be able to make the trans-Atlantic crossings at 16 knots and can dive below the surface when water gets rough. As designed, it would have six cabins and all the bells and whistles of a modern luxury yacht with the added bonus of undersea exploration. Get out your wallet, it will take $80 million to bring this project to completion.
