POWDER
8:45pm, August 11, at the Addison Stage

Since arriving in Los Angeles in 2001, POWDER has become a huge hit on the local music scene there and separated itself from the countless numbers of bands trying to hit it big along Sunset Boulevard. The four-member group consists of the two founding members, Phil-X on guitars and Ninette Terhard on vocals, as well as bassist Allan Hearn and drummer Vee. They have a wide range of musical influences that include AC/DC, James Brown, Van Halen, Kiss, Tina Turner, the Vapors, and Squeeze. Over the years their excellence and popularity has led to the band receiving Los Angeles Music Awards for "Best Rock/Pop Artist" and "Best Live Show" as well as being nominated for "Best Rock CD," "Best Rock Video," "Best Live Performance" and "Best Female Vocalist."

In addition to their uniquely entertaining music, POWDER always manages to keep their live performances interesting, whether appearing onstage as femme-bots or 10-foot tall aliens. Branching away from their Southern California home base, POWDER has hit various cities in the Midwest and found a welcoming reception. Their headlining appearance at this year's Market Days should only serve to increase the band's fan base.

POWDER has released several singles in both the United States and the UK and recently made their international television debut by appearing on Playboy's pay-per-view program "Night Calls." They have performed at the Download Festival in Donington, England and their song, "Adore Me," was chosen as the theme song for the WNBA by ESPN. She sings with confidence and maturity while showcasing a powerful voice that is remarkably diverse and that has gained recognition in multiple genres including pop, dance, rock, and adult contemporary. Dayne's unique vocal style has earned her worldwide success and critical acclaim and led to three successful albums: the double platinum albums TELL IT TO MY HEART and CANÕT FIGHT FATE as well as the certified gold SOUL DANCING. She has sold out two world tours, been honored with three Grammy nominations and has gone on to successfully explore the acting side of her personality.

Dayne (born Leslie Wunderman) hails from New York where she grew up surrounded by music and where by the time she graduated from high school had already joined her first band, Felony. While at college she studied music theory and composition by day and was a regular at New York clubs like CBGB's, the Bottom Line, and Trax by night. Dayne honed both her vocal prowess and dramatic presence during this time and by the mid-1980s was well on her way to establishing what has become a long and productive career. Her 1988 debut album was made in only eight weeks and yet it became a smash international success, spawning four chart- topping singles including the title track "Tell It To My Heart."

Following that firecracker start, Dayne continued to produce global hit albums and singles ("Love Will Lead You Back," "With Every Beat of My Heart," "Naked Without You," and "How Many") as well as broadening her performance career significantly. She began acting on the big screen in movies, debuting in 1994's "Love Affair" with Warren Beatty and Annette Benning. In addition to a string of movies Dayne acted on the small screen, principally in HBO and Showtime cable offerings, and performed on Broadway in the role of Princess Amneris in the award-winning "Aida."

A native of Chicago, Suzanne Palmer is one of the biggest stars on the global dance music scene. Equally at home singing R&B, gospel, house, pop and jazz, Palmer has been performing professionally since the age of 16. Early on in her career she appeared on albums with Angela Bofill and Jeff Lorber, toured Europe with the Victory Singers gospel choir, tore down the house on television's "Show Time at the Apollo," and won the Best Solo Vocalist award at the prestigious Sopot International Pop Festival in Poland.

A few years later Palmer again teamed up with Rauhofer at his Star 69 label and began recording a string of hits starting with 2001's club anthem "Hide U" and the 2002 follow-up smash "Show Me." Currently Palmer is still riding high on the success of her debut artist album, HOME, which produced club favorites "Luv 2 Luv," "Sound Of The Drum," and "Fascinated."
