Instead of a typical listing format, the Planner is going to be a bit more "conversational," talking about the weekly goings-on as well as the special event at the bars and clubs you care about most. We hope these changes result in a more informative and interesting read.

ROSCOE'S, still looking good after 20 years, has a weekly schedule that includes a live "Music Showcase" on Mondays with Amy & Freddy @ 9pm, "Drag Race 2007" on Tuesdays with Frida Lay @ 11pm, and Male Call on Sundays @ 5pm hosted by Miss Foozie. Be sure to check out who wins the $600 in cash prizes with their packaged goods in the "Wet Boxer Contest" on Thursday, July 26 @ Midnight.

It really doesn't get any gayer in Chicago than on Mondays @ 8pm for "Showtunes" at the video bar SIDETRACK. "Comedy" night comes your way on Thursdays @ 8pm while the best of the 60s ­ 90s gets featured on Sundays @ 9pm for "Retro."

COCKTAIL, the home for house music in Boystown, features the Spank Go-Go Boys five nights a week and several of Chicago's favorite DJs, including Michael Serafini on Tuesdays, Freddie Bain on Fridays and Matt Boss on Saturdays. A few doors south at the MINIBAR | WINEBAR complex every Tuesday features "Tastings" with flights of tequila and wine @ $3 per stem. On Sundays be sure to catch DJ Oskar as he spins the T-Party @ 7 pm with 48 oz martinis available from bartender extraordinaire Linda Little. If you want to Dance on Sundays be sure to join the hip late night crowd that gathers downtown at CLUB 720 with DJs Teri Bristol, Chris Eterno, and Luis M. .

CELL BLOCK, the only leather bar in Boystown, is featuring a Bloody Mary and Jager Mar bar from 2pm ­ 9pm on Saturdays and Sundays in July. The alcohol flow just as freely next door at KIT KAT with halh price martinis on Sundays and Tuesdays.

On the west side of the Halsted-Broadway Triangle at the tip of Boystown, BOBBY LOVE'S is the place to be for a nightly raucous good time. Right next door is NORTH END for those who want to shoot some pool, throw darts, and watch the Cubs and Sox on TV. On the east side of the Triangle, the schizophrenic CHARLIE'S has country line dancing during the first part of the night and after-hours hi-NRG clubbing with DJs LuLu and others until the early hours of the morning.

The busy month at CIRCUIT continues with superstar Tiffany performing at the "Party Like A Popstar" event on Friday, June 20. The next "Amigo" party takes place the following night, July 21, with skocie music DJ Roei Rodriquez on Mexico City joining resident DJ Alex Perez. The next weekend is highlighted by the monthly "Urbano" hip-hop party on Friday, June 27 and the Nitro "Under The Big Top" event on July 28 featuring DJ Billy Steele (NYC).

As always, HYDRATE's dance floor will be busy and crowded on a nightly basis as Chicago DJing talent is showcased. Thursday night resident DJ Greg Drescher adds a Friday, June 20, playdate to his schedule while Chicago legand Ralphi Rosario takes control of the DJ booth on successive Saturdays: July 21 and on July 28 when singer Amanda Lepore makes a special appearance.

Expect the essence of polyester and platform shoes at BERLIN's "Disco Obsession" on Wednesday, July 25 with DJs Ralphi Rosario and Izzy. A few days later the lovers of his Purple Highness will gather on Sunday, July 29 for the monthly "Prince Night."

SPIN hosts the very popular "Bear-y Special Shower Contest" with DJ Chris Eterno and hostess Miss Foozie on Friday, July 20 @ 11pm. The "Ear-rotic" hip-hop / house dance party with DJ Stoney takes place on Saturday, July 21 and the following week on July 28.

A fun time is just about guaranteed at STEAMWORKS at the "Lights Out Party" on Thursday, July 19, with DJ Dick. The 12 hours of fun begins @ 4pm. Friday nights feature the Mr. Sexx outreach program @ 6pm as well as free HIV testing @ 10 pm.

Way up on the far north side of the city, TOUCHÉ is hosting the "Mr. Midwest Rubber" contest on Saturday, July 21 @ 10pm. The night before on July 20 it's the "Onyx Club Night" @ 11pm while Saturday, July 28, features the "Cowboy Eye for the Leather Guy Makeover Contest." Two doors down at JACKHAMMER, the most diverse gay crowd in the city dances late into the night Wednesday through Saturday with DJ Oskar and others behind the decks. A bit further east is the GRANVILLE ANVIL, a hidden jewel near Loyola where the drinks are always cheap and strong.

In Andersonville, MARY'S ATTIC continues to offer a wonderfully eclectic line-up of events including Bare Boned Theatre's "The Ville," an original live LGBT-friendly soap opera. This month's episode will be played out on Monday, July 23, @ 8pm. Also on tap in the Attic: "Bingo Karaoke" on Sundays; DJ Shoshanna's eclectic mix on Fridays; and DJ Boom's dance sets on Saturdays. A few doors down and across the street is @MOSPHERE with DJ Timmy Loop and male strippers on Saturdays. If you want really good martinis, then MARTY'S is the place for you.

In SoFo (aka South Andersonville), MAN'S COUNTRY packs them in on Friday and Saturday nights for the all nude male stripper shows presented by Sarabia. Real leather men gather next door at THE EAGLE for lots of fun and very few games. T's has proven to be a popular neighborhood watering hole for lesbians while the fairly new SOFO provides a relaxed and friendly bar environment.

Known for its relaxed neighborhood feel, BIG CHICKS in Uptown keeps its Friday and Saturday nights lively with DJs and dancing in the smoke-free Salon. But don't let the unpretentiousness fool you, this place is as cruisy as they come. Speaking of cruisy, LITTLE JIM'S in Boystown features hook-ups of all types on a nightly basis. MANHANDLER serves the same purpose in the heart of Lincoln Park while THE SECOND STORY BAR meets the needs of those living and hanging out downtown.

If you are in search of live cabaret music and performances, you can't go wrong with
GENTRY ON STATE, featuring the likes of Miss Cristina on Wednesdays for "Naked Soul", Mark Farris and Paul Marinaro on Fridays and Becky Menzie on Tuesdays for "Open Mic." Additional outlets for this type of entertainment can be found at CLUB 3160 in Lakeview and DAVENPORT'S in Wicker Park.

"Boom Boom Room" at GREEN DOLPHIN STREET on Mondays continues to set the entertainment bar high with guest DJs Angel Alanis on July 23 and Master Kevy on July 30. They join resident DJs Michael Serafini, Diz, JustJoey, and Uncle Milty.

CESAR'S ON BROADWAY (@ Oakdale) is the Thursday night hotspot with "Pride Night" presented by ChicagoPride.com Starting @ 7pm, the festivities include Killer Margaritas, Miss Foozie's "Wheel Of Foozie" prize raffle, and DJ Plez serving up groovy house beats.

The newest party in the city is "Boy Bar" on Fridays nights at TSUKI'S LOUNGE, 1441 W. Fullerton. DJ Luis M provides the musical soundscape beginning @ 9:30pm. If you're outside the city limits looking for something to do, HUNTERS in the northwest suburbs has DJ Laura B for the weekly Saturday night "Ascent" party and DJ Ron G on Wednesdays for the "MWM" event. Down south in Blue Island, THE EDGE has a "Divas Dance" party on tap for July 28 with DJ Pervy.
