There are a million dance music artists in the world, and the majority of them do little but churn out faceless dance floor "hits" before fading into obscurity and a life of compilation CDs and anonymity. Danielle Bollinger is not one of them. In this fast paced deadline for the Closing Ceremonies, she dropped what she was doing and immediately took time to do this interview for us at BOI, what a gal! So bubbly and matter-of-fact, this woman knows where she is going and certainly knows how to please a crowd. Let's see what she has to say in this exclusive BOI Interview!
From Star Search to Club Diva, did you ever think this would be your destiny?
I knew from a very early age that I was going to do this. I really do believe that people can choose their own destiny, and I have definitely chosen mine to be the music industry. If you can't live without something in your life, then you know that it's meant to be. I could never live my life without singing in it.When you left Detroit for Nashville, you had to know you had something to make it pay off, what was it?
I have the three P's. I have passion, persistence, and patience. I have always been one of those girls who doesn't take no for an answer without a good fight, and I usually put up a good one. This dream and this knowledge of having something is my fight. I know that I have what it takes to put out good music and to make people feel good. What types of music inspire you?
I am inspired by all types of music. When you listen to the album, you'll hear all the types of music that inspire me. I am inspired also by good lyrics and songs that have meaning. I like to hear something and think to myself, "oh yeah, I've been through that before." Songs that touch the heart and soul inspire me.Tell us about your new CD
My CD really introduces me well to the world. I have felt and have been through every song on the album. I really wanted my heart and soul to go into this debut, so that music lovers of all kinds feel what I have felt in every song. I enjoy knowing that I have touched someone in some way with my music. When people tell me that they've experienced my lyrics in the songs, and it's moving to them, then my job has been done.
How has being part EsNtion family helped your career?
The EsNtion family is amazing, and they are so good to me. Bill McCormick and Nathan Silver have been behind me since day one, and I so appreciate them for that. It's nice to know that people believe in you as much as you believe in yourself, and that's EsNtion. They are truly good people. They are a little goofy and there's never a dull moment, and there is nothing that I wouldn't do for them.
What else do you want our readers to know?
I want my readers to enjoy my album, and know that I deliver music with meaning and with positive energy. I'm here for them, and I love all the comments and letters that I get. I also can't wait to tear it up in Chicago for the games!!!
