I would like to extend a warm Heartland greeting to all of you that are in Chicago for the first time and for all of you who are visiting us again. We, at BOI Magazine are so pleased that you have picked up our magazine as a guide to the city and the Gay Games. We hope that you find our magazine informative, funny and a keepsake from your trip to Chicago.
While you are hanging around our City, please take time to experience the ever-changing Chicago neighborhoods and their festivals. Chicago is filled with cultural diversity, vibrant with the everyday workings of the Chicagoan. As you board the "L" train or the bus watch the passers by as they involve themselves in their daily routine as you prepare for your daily events for your vacation.
Not only is Chicago a place to see culture, but it is a city to taste culture. There are thousands of restaurants to choose from. Anything you want to eat, you will find in Chicago. Be adventurous! This may be your chance to try Indian food, Sushi or something even more daring! Chicago is your gastronomical melting pot and you are the main ingredient, so if you are walking down the street and you happen to catch a whiff of something good, follow your nose.
You are in the Midwest hub of nightlife as well. Go out and have a ball! You should take a few precautions. Ladies and gentlemen too, if you carry a purse, leave it at the hotel! There is no place for it at a nightclub! Take what money you will need and an ATM card and be sure to have an ID with you at all times. Every bar in Chicago will require an ID, it is a law. It doesn't matter if you are 21 or 71, you must have ID with you to enter a bar or nightclub.
In closing, I want to add that there are many great places to shop, museums to see glorious works of art, restaurants to eat at, nightclubs to let loose at and of course the Gay Games. In all your daily tasks, drink plenty of fluids, keep track of your surroundings, make friends and we hope that your visit to Chicago will be a memorable one.
The staff of BOI Magazine and I wish you a safe and swinging summer in the Windy City and hope that you come back and see us real soon. If you would like to get an e-subscription to BOI Magazine, visit us on line at www.boimagazine.com.
