Chicago Pride Fest is more than your typical street festival. Here for one day only, you'll get a chance to mingle among the masses, at the same time shop for unique arts and crafts, or pick up information from one of the many GLBT/not-for-profit organizations participating in the festival. You can also enjoy live entertainment and satisfy your appetite with tasty food and cold beverages from area restaurants and bars.
What makes Pride Fest so unique among the many street festivals all year long is that it's one of Chicago's early-summer street events and the fact that it's a day-long, non-stop celebration, organized on Saturday, June 28, the day before Chicago's iconic Pride Parade.
The sixth annual Pride Fest is hosted by the Northalsted Area Merchants Association (NAMA), the same group behind the incredibly popular Northalsted Market Days® (set this year for the weekend of August 9 & 10, 2008). This equally crowd-pleasing gay and lesbian celebration of community pride has grown tremendously over the years has become a signature event on the Chicago cultural calendar.
Pride Fest showcases an eclectic lineup of arts & crafts, food and other vendors. It also features entertainment on two stages. The main stage, sponsored by Bud Light, will be located on the north end of the festival area near Grace Street and features headlining act Tiffany. The south stage, located near Addison Street, is sponsored by WaMu and will be dedicated to showcasing some of Chicago's fine performers in the gay community.
