Pride Month
Start
The first weekend of June finds The Flesh Hungry Dog Show back
at Jackhammer on Friday, June 5 with The Beazley Phillips Band;
On We, and A.J. Shanti. The show also features "The Bag
of Fun" prize giveaways, special guest performer Ms Bea
Haven (of Girlie-Q Burlesque) and DJ Sky. The show starts at
9pm and tickets are $10.
On that same
night a brand new party hits Circuit Night Club: "Caliente
Latin Night Out" on Friday, June 6. The event features
Samba Dance and Drummer performances at 10:30pm and 11:30pm and
various drink specials. The next night, Saturday, June 6, finds
legendary house DJ Johnny Fiasco at Smart Bar while the weekend
ends with Riley York steering the monthly "Madonna-Rama"
@ Berlin on Sunday, June 7.
Bursting
At The Seams
The second weekend of June is simply jam packed. First off,
Midsommarfest takes place in Andersonville on Saturday and Sunday,
June 13 & 14. Popular local bands of note on the entertainment
stages include Devin & The Straights and 16 Candles on Saturday
and Maggie Speaks and Catfight on Sunday. Just north of Andersonville,
Jackhammer hosts the "Next POPular DJ CD Release Party"
featuring DJ Phil DaBeatz on Friday, June 12.
Down in Boystown
Circuit hosts "In Search of The Next Miss Foozie Idol"
on Saturday, June 13. Contestants will need to bring a CD with
their music, check in at 9:30pm and then compete for a chance
to appear in the next "Miss Foozie Variety Show." If
you prefer to dance instead of sing on this night, then maybe
check out Susan Morabito @ Hydrate, LMFAO @ Crobar, or DJ Heather
@ Smart Bar. Earlier in the day at 4pm, Sidetrack hosts the
Final of the "Windy City Gay Idol" compettion.
Milwaukee
Pridefest
Only 90 miles away, this year's Milwaukee Pridefest looks to
have another winning combination of entertainment in store for
the weekend of Friday, June 12 Sunday, June 14 with headliners
Cyndi Lauper, Brandy, and Etta James along with Deborah Cox.
The Pridefest Dance Pavilion features DJ Joe Gauthreaux and
a live performance by September. Chicago DJs sandwich the weekend
with Brett Locascio and Ron G on Friday night while Teri Bristol
and Psycho Bitch tear it up on Sunday. The weekend concludes
with DJ Plez spinning PUMP!'s Pridefest Closing Party @ Decibel

Night Fun
Monday, June 6 sees The Crystal Method coming to town, live @
House of Blues. The next night, Tuesday, June 9, finds "Nerds
At Hearts" presenting "Dating for Queer Nerd Guys"

House music's Boystown home is most definitely Cocktail, featuring
Pate tending bar early and DJs Chris Eterno, Dealer, and DJ
Pete Augusta spinning throughout the night. In addition to the
sexy go-go boys 5 nights a week, the DJ line-up includes Timmy
Loop (Tuesdays), Greg Haus (Wednesdays), Michael Serafini (Thursdays),
Freddie Bain (Fridays), and Diva DJs (Saturdays).
Outside of Boystown,
house music gets a friendly reception in Andersonville during
"Attic-tion Saturdays" @ Mary's Attic w/ DJ Plez; downtown
@ Lumen's "Industry Tuesdays" w/ resident DJ JustJoey;
and on the South Side on Fridays @ Jeffrey's Pub w/ DJ Dana Powell.
"Boom Boom Room" @ Green Dolphin Street w/ resident

When it comes to dancing early in the night, Spin has DJ Chris
Eterno on Wednesdays for "WTF $1 Drink Night" and Luis
M lording over the dance floor on Fridays and on Sundays for
"Foxy's Basement." In Uptown the Wild Pug features
DJ Oskar for "Dorian Gray Night" on Saturdays while
Big Chicks has dancing in the Salon on Fridays and Saturdays.
For after-hours dancing, the always popular Berlin has "Cosmix
Fridays" w/ DJ Greg Haus, "Twisted" w/ DJs Chester
& Larissa on Saturdays, and "Stardust" on Thursdays.
Hydrate has its "Sunday Dance Party" w/ DJ Jeanette,
followed by DJ Laura B on Mondays; DJR spinning on Tuesdays;
the "girls" of "Hy-Drag" on Wednesdays; and
Cyon Flare and DJ Greg Drescher on Thursdays. Hi-energy beats
can be had during after-hours @ Charlie's every night of the
week, while the brand new "Ultimate After Hours" @
The Ram (3am-7am) features the "Amateur Strip Contest"
on Thursdays, DJ Ron G on Fridays, and DJ Plez on Saturdays.
Boystown CentralThe
video bar Sidetrack packs them in nightly with a popular line-up
of themed video nights, including "Showtunes" on Mondays
and "Comedy" on Thursdays. Minibar features a trendy
crowd and an impressive line-up of DJs, including Phil Da Beatz,
Nathan Wong, and Jesse Seely. At Roscoe's, Frida Lay hosts "Drag
Race 2009" on Tuesdays while Miss Foozie takes charge of
"Male Call" on Sundays. Other options include North
End (poz-friendly "Pulse" on Thursdays), Bobby Loves
(karaoke on Fridays), Charlie's (country line dancing) and Kit
Kat Lounge (half-price martinis on Sundays and Tuesdays). You
rarely go wrong visiting the long-standing Buck's and Little
Jim's and for live entertainment 3160 and Cornelia's are popular
and fun.

Lucky Horseshoe has strippers each night of the week while @mosphere
hosts them on "Hot Mess Thursdays" w/ DJ Chris Eterno.
The Andersonville bar features DJs Eric Hall and Timmy Loop,
respectively, and its new "Sabbath Sunday Strippers."
Out in the suburbs, the Men of Sarabia appear regularly @ Club
Krave on Fridays; Hideaway hosts the Chicago Beef dancers every
Thursday and Saturday; and Hunters presents "Hunters Hunks"
every Thursday.
Steamworks, the
full-service all-male club features a "Lights Out"
party every Thursday; after-hours every Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday; and DJ Jim B on Sunday afternoons. Up @ Man's Country,
strippers leave nothing to the imagination every Friday and Saturday
night @ Midnight.
Minority ReportChicago
lesbians congregate at Closet in Boystown and at several places
in Andersonville, including T's and Joi De Vine. Star Gaze has
"Salsa Night" and "Urban 80s & 90s" on
alternating Fridays and DJ XL on Saturdays. Thursday nights @
Mary's Attic has the "Lipstick Club" w/ DJs Dragonfire
& KT. Big room partying will take place @ Circuit with the
"Girl Bar" party on Saturday, June 6.
The weekly Latin
pursuits at Circuit include "La Noche Loca" on Thursdays,
featuring Miss Ketty's Latina Review, and "Noche Latina"
with hostess Veronica Zaid and DJs Ink & Alex Perez on Sundays.
Other Latin hangouts include Sundays @ Jackhammer and on the
weekend @ Club Chesterfield.
For an urban
music vibe that includes hip-hop as well as house music, Krush/The
Prop House gets busy every Friday night. "Reunion"
@ Shadow Bar downtown rocks each Saturday night w/ DJs Box, Shannon,
and Kenae spinning hip-hop, reggaeton, and house while Club Escape
takes care of southsiders. Of special note, is the the monthly
"UBU" after-hours party @ Circuit on Saturday, June
13.Beyond Halsted
Up in Andersonville you'll find the neighborhood outpost SoFo,
the brand new Cattle Call, and the martini bar Marty's. Mary's
Attic features Rogue DJ for "Feel Good Fridays" and
Karaoke on Sundays and Wednesdays. The fetish community finds
a home at Touché with "Hardcore Leather Cruisin'
Night" on Tuesdays and "Handballer Night" every
Thursday. Further north in Rogers Park is the very friendly
The Glenwood, a bar steadily growing in popularity.
Wilde Bar & Restaurant (3130 N. Broadway) has recently begun
its weekly "Wilde Night Out" on Mondays w/ DJ Greg
Haus, $3 well drinks, and $4 bottle of Miller beers. The Uptown/Edgewater
neighborhood is home to Granville Anvil (which counts Loyola
students as patrons); Big Chicks (and its popular free buffet
on Sundays) and the sports bar Crew ("Karaoke Night"
on Tuesdays). Scot's is a friendly gathering spot in the Ravenswood
neighborhood while Manhandler sits as a gay oasis in the heart
of Lincoln Park. Downtown, Second Story Bar is the only gay
bar left that serves office workers and shoppers alike while
Davenport's piano bar entertains over in Wicker Park. The young,
fun LGBTIQ crowd will be at the monthly "Chances Dances"
party at Subterranean on Monday, June 15.
Outside the Windy
City limits, Hunter's features DJ Ron G on Wednesdays for the
"MWM" party and DJ Laura B on Saturdays for "Just
Dance." In Lake Station, Indiana Encompass hosts "Karaoke"
on Tuesdays and Fridays and the "Rush St. Revue Show"
on Sundays.
