In 1987 at the ripe old age of 19, Jim Kiley-Zufelt was introduced to the leather community and soon became a founding member and the first vice-president of Griffins MC in Wilmington DE. Since then he's lived in Philadelphia for a number of years and recently settled in the Philly burbs of southern New Jersey. In 2000 he became a full member of Philadelphians MC where he has held the offices of Scribe, Co-Captain, and currently serves as Pledge Master. Jim is also an associate member of Pennsmen, Liberty Bears, and the Knight Hawks of Virginia.
Jim enjoys volunteering at leather and non-leather events such as the Philadelphia International Film Festival, Leather Pride Night, American Brotherhood Weekend, Ms. & Mr. World Leather, the Diabolique and Libertine Balls, and Philadelphia Leather Weekend, which he has co-produced the last two years. On the third Friday of every month Jim is very proud to co-host "Smart Ass Trivia" at the Bike Stop which raises money for local HIV/AIDS and LGBT organizations. Jim has been honored with the title of Mr. Philadelphia Leather 2003, the Philadelphians MC's Brother of the Year award in 2004, and ABW's Volunteer of the Year award which he shared with his partner Mike in 2004. In his spare time Jim is a freelance writer for the Philadelphia Gay News. Jim is very honored and excited to be serving as a Tally Master for IML this year.
Blackkat's leather journey "officially" began eighteen years ago and he has been traveling steady on his path ever since. Today, BK is an active member of the leather community in various capacities. Most people know him as American Leatherman 2005, but Blackkat has many more irons in the fire. He is the founder of SAFER+SANER, a leathersex prevention, education, and outreach project; and developed and wrote FUNK! (Fuckin' Unadulterated Nasty Kink!), the S+S pocketsize leathersex safety manual. BK is the cultural custodian for a special collection that chronicles the contributions of Black LGBTQ people in the leather community housed at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture; and is co-chair for SWEAT! in the City, NYC's Black Leather Pride Weekend. When not working on his own projects, BK is an invited speaker, presenter, and emcee at various national and international leather events. He is also putting the finishing touches on his first book, slated to be released in spring 2007. His accomplishments earned him two 2006 Pantheon of Leather awards, Northeast Regional and Community Choice Man of the Year.
In addition to his leather organization activities, BK volunteers his time with several community projects and has been honored for many of his efforts. And somehow, Blackkat balances all that with his obligations to his Leather family which includes his Daddy; three sons; and two life partners. To keep up with Blackkat, check out
