Just
To Let You Know I have been a completely stressed out mertina
since last month's column. I went to New York City, and I was
not ready!
Terrence's Tales
in NYC
Stayed on the Upper West Side with a friend and I loved it. Went
to GYM, this gay sports bar in Chelsea (NYC's Boystown equivalent).
Cute concept...not so cute crowd. Stopped by at G Lounge, which
has been featured on the Travel Channel. Great music and a fun
crowd that reminded me a lot of Minibar.
Met this guy who's this fancy choreographer for this dance school
in Harlem when I was partying in the Village. He took me out
on a date to Cafeteria (it's not really a cafeteria, but restaurant
in Chelesea which was featured in Sex and The City for all you
TV show fanatics). Not to be a bitch, but the highlights of my
date were my salmon Caesar salad and my very attractive waiter.
My date had terrible breath. Check came and I was very VERY
tempted to write my number down on the receipt, but fancy choreographer
merton grabbed it first and it just would've looked tacky and
questionable. Both went to Splash for karaoke night hosted by
Shequida and this is where I was just a misplaced kitten!
Did karaoke for the
free drinks, sung "My Cherie Amor" by Stevie Wonder,
was dreadful, and mysteriously came in second place. Completely
forgot about my date, sorry to be so typical, and met this really
cute journalist from Austin, Texas named Colin. Was having a
great conversation until Shequida came over, started harassing
Colin and I about who's taking who to who's place tonight. So
annoying. Told Colin that I had to go to the bathroom, mainly
to escape the Shequida. When I came back, Colin was nowhere to
be found. Sad face.
Of course Miss Shequida was front and center, pulled me aside
and proceeded to tell me how I ruined things with Colin and that's
why he left. Her friend slips her a condom, she takes it as she
stares me down and then boldly offers to take me home. Yea...thought
she was joking but she was such a serious drag queen with that
condom between her fingers. At this point, I now realize why
I came in second place and just pretended like I had a text message.
Worked like a charm...she left. Oh yea, went to Central Park.
That was great too!
Back
In the Windy City
Last month, I had my photo shoot with Vic Lloyd, the influential
fashion buyer for his high-end street wear boutiques, Leaders
1345, which are located over in Wicker Park and Downtown. He
has the power to put local fashion designers on the map with
the decision to carry their clothing line in Leaders. Some celebrities
that have made a stop at Lloyd's pad have been Pharrell, Lupe
Fiasco, and the now infamous Chris Brown. Million $ Mano from
He Say, She Say stopped by to hang out during the shoot and Playboy
model Selina Reyes was there to help me host the taped interview
I had with Lloyd. All in all, it was a fun and successful shoot.
After the shoot,
my crew and I headed over to a birthday party for Clayton Hauck,
who is best known for putting nightlife photography on the map
with his site everyoneisfamous (www.everyoneisfamous.com) . His
party, titled Claychella, was just down the street at Debonair
Social Club. Everyone was there it seems with the popular DJ
duo Flosstradamus spinning some records. The party actually went
on from 12 noon until 3am the next morning, fueled by a recession-busting
trailer trash brunch: $2 PBRs and $2 slices of pizza.
And just so you'll know everyone Colin called me right the day
before I left New York. According to him, it was that damn Shequida
that scared him off. Looks like Austin, Texas is my next stop!
