Dear Daisy,
My question to you is in two parts, I hope that is OK. How come when you eat corn, no matter how much you chew it, you poop it out in whole kernels? And is there any way to prevent corn from getting in your poop?
Thanks,
Paranoid PooperDear Pooper,
Corn poop is one of the greatest mysteries in life. I grew up pondering the same question. This is what I think is happening:
When we chew corn, the outer coating slips off the inner kernel. This outer yellow coating is almost entirely cellulose, and is indigestible. It passes through the gut untouched, and emerges looking like a whole kernel, although it is mostly just the outer skin. The inside of the kernel is starchy and digestible, and that is the part that we succeed in chewing up. As far as the second part of your query, I know of only one way to keep corn out of your poop - don't eat corn!
Dear Daisy,
Is there a way to change from oriental into cottage and still use some oriental touches? I love the look of cottage and the painted white furniture, white sofas, white window dressings, but also have some lovely oriental paintings with black frames as well as a gold overlay mirror. This is all so hard that I just haven't done anything since moving in. If you can assist me, THANK YOU!

P.S. Just for my living room and dining room, which are filled with two story windows and which is one huge great room, more or less?Dear Confused,
You must be Psychic! This is perfect for our Home Improvement issue, and I say
ABSOLUTELY!! The "cottage look" is often a very eclectic, somewhat "cluttered" look that can take years to get fully established, because its a process of gathering all your favorite things together. It falls into the "country" category, and that can span from folk to formal. Go ahead, do all your white... and then add your oriental pieces that you love. It will look more natural that way, instead of "planned". As you live in it, and gather more things that you love, it will begin to take shape and all make sense. The cottage look is more of a process than any ONE look. The white simply serves as a wonderful backdrop.
Dear Daisy,
I need help; I am having trouble copying my VHS and rented VHS tapes to DVD. The picture keeps getting dark and then it gets light again. What am I doing wrong?

Dear Copier.
First of all, would you steal a DVD from the store? Because that is what you are doing! What you are doing is called Piracy. What is happening is a copy guard process to prevent illegal copies of films to be made. So if you want to be hooked up right, go out and buy the movies you want on DVD buy them used, a DVD used is usually as good as a brand new one!
