"When I wake up in the morning, I just can't get started until I've had that first, piping hot pot of coffee. Oh, I've tried other enemas..."
Emo Philips
From an article in the LA Times, we learned about the Pasquini family, sellers of some of the best espresso machines around. The latest hot seller is the La Cimbali M3 Superbar2. With one touch it does everything from grinding to create the perfect cup of espresso. Pasquini has been selling the machine to coffee shops but for $23,000 you can make espresso for your entire dinner party in a matter of minutes. It even has an online component so that if the espresso isn't turning out properly the technicians in the factory can fine tune it without ever having to make a house call. It even cleans itself up to four times a day. This machine will do everything but sip it for you.

The FrancisFrancis! espresso machines, designed by architect Luca Trazzi, always win rave reviews for retro styling and usability. Their popular X1 model was introduced in 1995. The newer X5 is designed to take up less space on the kitchen counter. Where the X1 had a rounded 1950s feel to it, the X5 is all squared off angles. It makes coffee with espresso pods or ground coffee and has a large clock, brass boiler, steam wand, water reservoir and a top that can be used to warm espresso cups (although I've heard this doesn't work very well). It is available in a variety of brilliant colors and retails for $550.

The Jura-Capresso Impressa F9 Limited Edition espresso maker has over 60 square inches of 24 karat gold plated metal alloy front panels which have been treated to take no damage from steam or hot water. The 555 individually numbered machines, produced in celebration of Capresso's 10th anniversary, use touch screen technology and a two line, colored LED to help control settings to produce that perfect cup of coffee, espresso or cappuchino. Cup sizes are programmable, a two step infusion cycle moistens and conditions the ground coffee and there is a build in grinder. The Impressa F9 can hold enough water to make 40 espressos at a time.
