Canadian twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten moved to Milan in 1991 to further pursue their love for fashion and desire to have their own collection. The result was a debut in 1994 with a Mens collection and in February 2003 they launched their first womens runway show. Dsquared2 shows are often multimedia extravaganzas, combining fashion with art and music. Dean and Dan are also collaborating with the photographer Steven Klein to develop a series of images for advertising campaigns that express their pure ideals and sensuality. Dean and Dan's unique mix of American wit, refined Italian tailoring and attention to detail inspire a loyal following. "We consider our clothes to be real," said Dean. "We want people to look cool, not dressed up. We design what we want to wear ourselves." Among this growing following are celebrities such as Lenny Kravitz, Justin Timberlake and Ricky Martin. The twins have also put their stamp on the womens fashion world and were thrilled when they were commissioned to create costumes for Madonnas "Dont Tell Me" video and the cowboy segment in her 2002 Drowned World tour.

"The Madonna thing was a big deal for us, because she has always been a huge inspiration. She first liked a pair of our jeans and before we knew it we had created 150 pieces for her tour. It has been an amazing and fulfilling experience" said Dan.

Hip hop diva Eve generated even more press for the brothers when while wearing Dsquared2 she was awarded the Breakthrough Style Award at the 2002 VH-1/ Vogue Fashion Award Show.

The brothers teased the public in June 2002 when Dsquared2 previewed their Spring/ Summer 2003 menswear collection with an unexpected twist nine looks from their long-awaited Womens Collection. The following day WWD featured the designers on their prestigious cover and published a two-page interview. "The Dsquared2 woman is self assured and wants to look cool in an unstudied way," said Dan.

The inaugural Womens Collection debuted eight months later in Milan on February 27th, 2003, featuring supermodels Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Karolina Kurkova and Fernanda Tavares descending from a candy-pink private jet. This dramatic show generated yet another WWD cover, featuring model Karolina Kurkova wearing a high-waisted gold leather biker skirt and sweet pink mohair cardigan caplet.

Dean Caten: "Accessories are the finishing touch to complete the look and we have a clear idea of what our woman wants. The Womens Collection completely embraces the Dsquared2 spirit. It is vibrant, confident, fun and effortlessly cool. We feel it is a perfect compliment to our signature men's look.

It has been nine years since Dsquared2 was unleashed on the world and Dean and Dan keep challenging themselves and looking toward the future.
