There is a new Gay Bar in Peoria, IL that you should know about. It is a 4:00 dance bar called DV8. The atmosphere is very intense and a very cute crowd. It's worth the drive down for a weekend away. Emmy® award-winning filmmakers Beverly Kopf and Bobbie Birleffi are seeking candidates to star in an upcoming documentary film entitled BE REAL. The film will focus on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Americans, from all walks of life, who have inspired extraordinary change in their communities. The film is slated to air on national cable television in the fall of 2005.

The filmmakers aim to profile five to seven outstanding GLBT individuals, recognized not only for how they live their lives on a personal level, but also for obstacles they have overcome and contributions they have made to inspire others. "For us, this film BE REAL is an opportunity to represent gay people as they truly are," said Beverly Kopf. Added Bobbie Birleffi, "For the most part, television has used stereotypes to represent the GLBT community. We want to dig deeper -- to show undiscovered differences and surprising similarities among gays and straights."
