The
winter is here and unfortunately for far too many, that means
a marked decrease in physical activity. While the dedicated
gymster can keep winter weight gain to a minimum by slavishly
following their workout regimen at the health club, everyone
else must find other activities to keep from feeling like total
slugs during the snowy season. Here are some fun options.
Bowling
--
Since bowling is an indoor activity it's perfect during the winter,
and now it's even a nightlife option complete with disco balls.
Diversey
River Bowl
2211 W Diversey | 773.227.5800 | www.drbowl.com
Part bowling alley and part nightclub, this is place is not your
father's bowling alley. When leagues aren't in session, night
time bowling features pulsating music and a laser light show.
Waveland
Bowl 3700
N Western | 773.472.9500 | www.wavelandbowl.com
If for whatever reason you are awake at 3am on a Tuesday and
bored, then maybe a quick trip over to the 24-hour Waveland Bowl
is just what you need. And if you'd rather shoot pool instead
of trying to convert the 7-10 split, Waveland also has an impressive
Billiards room.
Other bowling
options:
10pin
Bowling Lounge
330 N State | 312.644.0300 | www.10pinchicago.com

Roller Skating
--
While skating raises the heart rate quite a bit more than bowling,
it's a also bit more difficult to do since the Rainbo skating
rinks no longer exists.
Playdium
Roller Rink
1776 Glenview Rd | Glenview, IL | 847.724.6767
Unfortunately, this northern suburb rink is the closest to Boystown,
but if you want to get your skating groove on during the winter
months, here you go.
Fleetwood
Skating Rink
7231 Archer Ave | Summit Argo, IL | 708.458.0300 | www.fleetwoodrollerrink.com
A 75' x 165' hard maple skating surface and $2 rental rates for
skates makes the long trek out to the southwest suburbs well
worth the trip.

in the city:
