In 2006, the term "on the
down low" or "OTDL" has a meaning of a sexuality
of a married "STR8" black male; who has male to male
sex on the side. Decades before; OTDL meant fiercesness, a scene,
a being, all & everything under the radar. Henceforth; the
term: "On The Down Low", ie... the underground!
These days, it is the "tongue & cheek" name for
a promotion of a weekly event at the Generator. A jack of all
trades; yes, I do mean "trades", is a legendary club
figure known as "Tut". In the mid 80's, one would have
found him working & working "it" at the infamous
Shelter. And, unbeknownst to many; he was also one of the major
forces leading the Guardian Angels. And, as if time has stood
still; he is still a member of those wonderful urban Super Heroes!
The decade is 2000. The world has changed & so has the infamous
super hero known as "Tut". He has once again reinvented
himself. So, it is my pleasure to reintroduce to you & the
world -----"Ruff & Stuff"!

R&S - Just leaning back about ta' get ready cause

B.B.- Well, I hope ta' make this quick & painless for ya
cause I know ya gotta' rip & run.
So, when was your first club promotion? When did the energy of
"House of Tut" begin?
R&S - 1990! The Riviera Nightclub, backstage, it was called
"The Rear".
B.B.- Ya know, I went to a house party of yours before that!
R&S - Correct! I use to do house parties!
B.B.- I remember you had a huge stack of money in your
hands & you threw it up in the
air & started a stampede & riot!
R&S - Exactly!!!
B.B.- What I've always wanted ta' ask ya is; how were you able
to do all that & still be with the Guardian Angels, on patrol,
& still be fabulous? I remember running into you in the subway
once. You guys scared the shit out me! I reach for my razor quick!
LOL
R&S - LOL! Well, before, I was much more in the front lines
with the foot patrols. These days, I've taken a much more active
role in the administrative & the inter-workings of the Guardian
Angels. Which can be a full-time job! I handle all of the media
& bulletin issues involved in organizing an effective force
for the Guardian Angels.
B.B.- Okay! Now tell me about the Ms. Ricky Lake Show?
R&S - Well, that was Flame Munroe's idea. She thought it
would be a gag if "Ruff & Stuff" got a make over!
B.B.- Word around town is that Ms. Flame Munroe is going to be
coming to an HBO near you!
R&S - Well, ya, I heard that too! LOL! I wish her much love!

House of Tut & Clubhouse Productions have joined forces
to bring to the scene a mixture of hip-hop, house, & reggaetone.
"Tut" can be found on the door every Sunday night at
OTDL @ the Generator on Halsted St. And, ya really must catch
his duel identity "Ruff & Stuff", who hosts the
evening at Club Escape on 75th & Stoney Island on Tues.,
Weds, & Saturdays!
